SPECIFICATION OVERVIEW

This a brief overview of the Ghost Range. For more details about the individual products/components please use the links to the left.

Ghost Range:

At launch in July 2006, the GHOST range comprises 5 products in a choice of 2 colours, Charcoal Grey, and Light Grey. These are the 'Block', 'Big Block', 'Wedge Trap', 'Corner Trap' and the 'Gobo Stand'.

Construction:

The starting point for the range is the 'Block' absorber built around an aluminium steel inner frame. The construction is layers of highly compressed glass fibre (100Kg per cubic Metre), with layers of Aluminium foil which help ‘break up’ lower frequency wave forms.

These layers are covered with a fully fire retardant fabric and the whole structure is bound with a brushed Aluminium frame, which both allows diffusion and looks great!

The products are all fully fire retardant, and also unlike the many foam based solutions on the market GHOST absorbers will work much more efficiently to absorb low frequency information as well as HF.

Mounting:

The mounting system is novel to this type of product, but incredibly simple. Each ‘absorber’ ships with a metal frame which screws onto the wall. This frame has a series of mounting-heads onto which the product can be easily hung. This means that initial installation is very easy… just like putting up a set of shelves, or hanging a picture. It also means that you can move the product to suit your needs… if you need to move rooms, or even house, the product is very easy to move with you… (whereas, gluing foam tiles to your walls means they can only be used once without compromising their efficiency/finish, and walls have to be repaired once tiles are removed).

In addition, each 'Block' absorber has two tubes running through it which allow the product to be mounted quickly and easily on a solid steel base with Aluminium Rod attachments to form ‘Gobo’s’ for recording guitar cabs, drums or vocals. Each stand can stack up to three 2’x2’ Block traps, and they are designed so angled walls can be built etc. So, when tracking, you can remove the panels from your studio walls to use as Gobo’s or to form a full height vocal booth. The same panels can then be re-mounted in seconds for mixing in a properly treated room.

The system is so portable that it can be transferred to rehearsal rooms to help with instrument separation… the possibilities become limitless. And because the product is fully fire retardant, it can be used in public buildings (unlike most foam products) such as schools, churches, music colleges etc.

Fire Retardancy :

We are awaiting the final certification for fire retardancy to post on this site. In the meantime a word or 2 on this subject. Ghost products are all made using only Steel, Aluminium, Fibreglass and fully fire retardant polyester fabric. Our products are not flammable and may be used in any commercial or public building. By contrast, there are (to our best knowledge) NO manufacturers of acoustic foam products making Class A, fully fire retardant products. Foam products are designed to be glued to walls. While most manufacturers do post warnings on their boxes about the flammability of their product, in our experience it is not made clear to customers what the implications of use in public buildings is. In many countries it is illegal to use such products in public spaces (this includes Churches, Schools, Commercial recording studios, Music Colleges and even retail outlets), because they are not class compliant for public liability. Ghost products are built to be public building class compliant. Ghost products are also quickly removable, and as such are not classed as ‘fixtures and fittings’ further strengthening their class compliance. This is an extremely serious issue which has been skirted by manufacturers of acoustic foam tiles. In the event of a lethal or harmful fire, which may have been contributed to by acoustic foam tiles, liability may fall to the owner of the public building, and to the suppliers of the acoustic materials locally. We would therefore strongly recommend that if your premises are likely to be used by members of the general public, that you consider Ghost or other fully class compliant acoustic materials in place of foam.

GHOST In summary:

* Fire retardant – all Ghost products are manufactured using only Class A Fire retardant products (Steel, Aluminium, Glass fibre and fire retardant Polyester fabric)
* Frequency – full range absorption for all panels down to 100Hz, much more efficient than foam tiles
* Flexible – Ghost products do not require permanent fixing with glue (like foam based products). As such they are both portable, and have multiple applications.
* Finish – Ghost panels are very durable and look great (foam products fade and oxidise over time and have to be replaced as they begin to crumble and form dust).
